Privacy Policy

Roxxx Mail is a native email client for Mac, iPhone and iPad, made in Belgium as an independent project. The short version: your email and passwords stay on your device and travel only to the servers you choose. We don't run servers that read your mail, and there is no tracking, advertising or profiling.

Who we are

Roxxx Mail is built and operated by an individual developer in Belgium. For any privacy question you can reach us at [email protected].

What stays on your device

Your email. Messages are fetched from your own mail providers and cached locally on your device, so the app is fast and works offline. This cache never leaves your device except back to your own mail servers.
Your account credentials. Passwords and access tokens are kept in the operating system's Keychain — the secure store that macOS and iOS provide — and are used only to connect to your mail servers.

What is sent, and to whom

Roxxx Mail only communicates with services you configure or explicitly enable:

Your mail servers. The app connects to the IMAP/SMTP servers of the accounts you add (your own server, iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, …) to send and receive mail. Your credentials and messages go only to those providers, under their own privacy policies.
AI features — optional, and only with your own key. If you add your own Anthropic (Claude) API key, you can enable AI categorisation, phishing detection and reply suggestions. In that case, for categorisation and phishing checks only limited data — the sender, the subject and a short preview — is sent, never the full message; for an AI reply suggestion, the content of the message you are replying to is sent. This data goes directly from your device to Anthropic under your own API key and is handled according to Anthropic's privacy policy and API terms. These features are off unless you turn them on and require a key you provide.
iCloud — optional. If you turn on iCloud sync, your app settings sync through your private iCloud account, and your account passwords travel through iCloud Keychain, which Apple end-to-end encrypts. This is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and is off unless you enable it.
Settings sync through your own mailbox. Your rules, categories and preferences can be synced by storing them as a hidden message in your own mailbox. That data stays within your mail account.

What we don't do

No analytics, tracking or telemetry.
No advertising, and no profiling of you or your contacts.
No selling or sharing of your data with anyone.
The developer operates no server that receives your email or personal data. This website is a static page and collects nothing.

Privacy by default

Remote images and tracking pixels in messages are blocked by default, so senders can't silently learn when or where you open their mail. You can allow images per message or per sender.

Keeping and deleting your data

Because everything lives on your device, you are in control: removing the app deletes its local cache and stored settings from that device, and removing an account in the app deletes its local cache. Your mail on the server and your credentials in iCloud Keychain are managed by those providers and are not affected by deleting the app.

Children

Roxxx Mail is a general-purpose email client and is not directed at children.

Roxxx Mail is een native e-mailclient voor Mac, iPhone en iPad, met zorg gemaakt in België als onafhankelijk project. De korte versie: je e-mail en wachtwoorden blijven op je toestel en gaan enkel naar de servers die jij kiest. Wij draaien geen servers die je mail lezen, en er is geen tracking, reclame of profilering.

Wie we zijn

Roxxx Mail wordt gemaakt en beheerd door een individuele ontwikkelaar in België. Voor elke privacyvraag bereik je ons op [email protected].

Wat op je toestel blijft

Je e-mail. Berichten worden opgehaald bij je eigen mailproviders en lokaal op je toestel gecachet, zodat de app snel werkt en ook offline. Die cache verlaat je toestel nooit, behalve terug naar je eigen mailservers.
Je accountgegevens. Wachtwoorden en toegangstokens worden bewaard in de Sleutelhanger van het besturingssysteem — de beveiligde opslag van macOS en iOS — en enkel gebruikt om verbinding te maken met je mailservers.

Wat verzonden wordt, en naar wie

Roxxx Mail communiceert enkel met diensten die jij instelt of uitdrukkelijk inschakelt:

Je mailservers. De app verbindt met de IMAP/SMTP-servers van de accounts die je toevoegt (je eigen server, iCloud, Gmail, Outlook, …) om mail te versturen en te ontvangen. Je gegevens en berichten gaan enkel naar die providers, onder hun eigen privacybeleid.
AI-functies — optioneel, en enkel met je eigen sleutel. Als je je eigen Anthropic (Claude) API-sleutel toevoegt, kan je AI-categorisering, phishingdetectie en antwoordsuggesties inschakelen. In dat geval wordt voor categorisering en phishingcontrole enkel beperkte data — de afzender, het onderwerp en een korte voorvertoning — verstuurd, nooit het volledige bericht; voor een AI-antwoordsuggestie wordt de inhoud van het bericht waarop je antwoordt verstuurd. Die data gaat rechtstreeks van je toestel naar Anthropic onder je eigen API-sleutel en wordt behandeld volgens het privacybeleid en de API-voorwaarden van Anthropic. Deze functies staan uit tenzij je ze aanzet en vereisen een sleutel die jij aanlevert.
iCloud — optioneel. Als je iCloud-synchronisatie aanzet, synchroniseren je app-instellingen via je eigen iCloud-account, en reizen je accountwachtwoorden mee via iCloud Sleutelhanger, die Apple end-to-end versleutelt. Dit wordt door Apple afgehandeld onder Apple's privacybeleid, en staat uit tenzij je het inschakelt.
Instellingen-sync via je eigen mailbox. Je regels, categorieën en voorkeuren kunnen gesynchroniseerd worden door ze als een verborgen bericht in je eigen mailbox te bewaren. Die data blijft binnen je mailaccount.

Wat we niet doen

Geen analytics, tracking of telemetrie.
Geen reclame, en geen profilering van jou of je contacten.
Geen verkoop of delen van je gegevens met wie dan ook.
De ontwikkelaar draait geen server die je e-mail of persoonlijke gegevens ontvangt. Deze website is een statische pagina en verzamelt niets.

Privé als standaard

Externe afbeeldingen en trackingpixels in berichten worden standaard geblokkeerd, zodat afzenders niet stilletjes te weten komen wanneer of waar je hun mail opent. Je kan afbeeldingen per bericht of per afzender toestaan.

Bewaren en verwijderen van je gegevens

Omdat alles op je toestel staat, heb jij de controle: de app verwijderen wist de lokale cache en bewaarde instellingen van dat toestel, en een account in de app verwijderen wist de lokale cache ervan. Je mail op de server en je gegevens in iCloud Sleutelhanger worden beheerd door die providers en worden niet geraakt door de app te verwijderen.

Kinderen

Roxxx Mail is een algemene e-mailclient en is niet gericht op kinderen.

Wijzigingen aan dit beleid

Als dit beleid wijzigt, wordt de bijgewerkte versie op deze pagina geplaatst met een nieuwe datum.
